Shield Curling Club GM Carter Rycroft is making a big return to curling

April 2, 2026
When Carter Rycroft got a call from John Morris asking if he wanted to be a Rock League GM, he couldn't turn it down.
Despite being mostly away from the game in recent years, the former world and Brier champion and Olympic silver medallist explained to Broom Brothers podcast host John Cullen how he got pulled back into the game.
Rycroft's as Shield Curling Club will be captained by two-time Olympic gold medallist Brad Jacobs, who are competing in Toronto in the first-ever Rock League season from April 6-12.
"It is definitely a strong personality. He's vocal. But that's probably, for me it's a good thing because there's no gray area. I'm not a gray area kind of guy," Rycroft said of Jacobs.
Rycroft will also have another familiar face to many Canadian curling fans in five-time Scotties champion Kerri Einarson.
"She's been a leader on the ice for a long time. So, I'll be leaning on both of them quite a bit," Rycroft said.
The full interview is available on YouTube, starting at 21:22, as well as on Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.
